Oakleigh South Girl Guides

Helping girls and young women grow into confident, self-respecting, responsible community members.

About Us

Oakleigh South Guide Group is part of the world wide organisation of Guides, which was founded by Lord Baden Powell over 90 years ago and is available to girls and women in over 136 countries all over the world. Being members of an international organisation, with over nine million members world-wide, gives you many opportunities to discover the world.

Girls work in Patrols. A patrol is a small group of girls. Each patrol has a Patrol Leader and a Patrol Second; these roles are a huge honour. The Patrol system encourages team work, gives girls the opportunity to lean leadership skills and fosters close friendships with their Patrol members.

The Australian Guide program works on seven main principles:
Promise and Law
World Guiding
Outdoors
Leadership
Service
Patrol system
Guiding Traditions
Our weekly activities are all based on various aspects of the Australian Guide Program.

Guiding has much to offer your daughter, but guiding is also open to the rest of the family. If you have any other daughters, please ask us about the other units in the Group, and we encourage parents to become involved; your help, no matter how small is always appreciated.
