17th February. Kitchen Grand Opening.

On 17th February Oakleigh South Girl Guides celebrated the grand opening of their brand new kitchen. Thanks to a grant obtained from the government, a wonderful new kitchen was installed at the guide hall in Guest Road. John Klimek, a member of the Oakleigh South Girl Guide Support Group did a wonderful job applying for the grant and then co-ordinating and helping with the installation of the kitchen. On Monday 17th, the Oakleigh South guiding community gathered to witness the grand opening of the kitchen by Inga Peulich MLC, Member for South Eastern Metropolitan Region on behalf of Hon. Ryan Smith, minister for Youth Affairs and Wendy Lewis, CEO Girl Guides, Victoria. It was a lovely evening so the plaque unveiling was conducted outside in the garden after a family barbecue. After a speech from Inga, the plaque was unveiled and is now installed on the wall of the kitchen. The girls will have many wonderful nights using the lovely new kitchen.
